AER is a private nonprofit organization incorporated in 1942 by the Secretary of War and the Army Chief of Staff. AER's sole mission is to help Soldiers and their Families.
AER is the Army's own emergency financial assistance organization and is dedicated to "Helping the Army Take Care of Its Own." AER funds are used to provide emergency financial assistance in the form of grants, no-interest loans and scholarships to soldiers - active & retired - and their dependents when there is a valid need.
Eligibility for AER assistance is restricted to active duty and retired Soldiers and their dependents; Army National Guard Soldiers on Title 10 orders for 30 or more days; Army Reserve Soldiers on orders for 30 or more days. Retired Army National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers, receiving retirement pay from DFAS are also eligible. The children of “gray area” retirees are eligible to apply for scholarships.

The purpose and objective of the organization shall be: To provide a distribution center for available free food to be given to any legitimate agency feeding the hungry. To operate a soup kitchen for the purpose of serving a meal each Monday through Saturday of the year to the hungry.

The mission of the S.O.S. Food Pantry is to assist and provide supplement food to the needy at Austin Peay State University, who have been impacted by financial problems as a result of: unemployment (lay-offs & downsizing), divorce, disability, health, domestic violence, homelessness, disaster, or rising cost of living. We gather, store and distribute goods to those who find themselves in time of special need and crisis. Our mission is based on a compassionate hand out and hand up as we respect the dignity of each person we serve.

Sunday Services are as follows: Traditional Worship at 9:00 a.m., Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. and Modern Worship at 11:00 a.m. We also have a weekly Bible Study for adults, youth and children on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
